Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ (haha, okay maybe not Google+), Pinterest and YouTube have become influential staples in most people’s daily lives. Obviously. You probably have a Facebook tab up on your browser right now.
However, quantifying just how influential social media really is seems to be a topic in which researchers are just now skimming the surface.

Brad, a junior at the School of Journalism, is a friend of mine – the first person I met at Mizzou, actually – who has only just recently taken up graphic design, but has already seen success. Over the summer he was one of eight winners of an Orbit gum package design contest. The prize? Five thousand dollars.
