Check Out The World’s Worst Defense of The Oxford Comma (Updated)

Behold, Missouri School of Journalism students, and be appalled. This is an actual defense of the oxford comma currently making its way around the Internet. We found it when several (former) friends shared it on Facebook, along with their enthusiastic support.

Are there any Mizzou journalism students who care to articulate a response? Or, better yet, are there any Mizzou J-Schoolers who could draw up a graphic on why the oxford comma is evil and must be banished to some sort of grammatical hell, or at least purgatory? Everyone here at J-School Buzz would be more than happy to help that sort of graphic go viral.

After all, if we helped get Chris Spurlock hired at the Huffington Post for his graphic resume, maybe we can destroy the oxford comma, too. Just a day’s work in the Mizzou blogosphere!

Let us know in the comments if you come up with anything good, or send your artwork blasting the oxford comma right to our inbox: Tips@JSchoolBuzz.com.

Update: That was quick! We got our first J-Schooler response, and it’s even illustrated. This funny explanation of why the oxford comma is evil comes to us courtesy a former magazine journalism grad who doesn’t want to be named, but will let us link to her Twitter account (?).

Keep ‘em coming, folks! If you have your own graphical illustration for why the oxford comma is no good, send it our way.
